The Tianjin Foreign Studies University Academic Merit Scholarship was established with the purposes of encouraging diligent study; fostering outstanding academically talented study abroad students; encouraging creativity amongst foreign students; promoting the development of students’ talents, and increasing cultural exchange. Awarding of the scholarship follows strict guidelines.
The Tianjin Foreign Studies University Academic Merit Scholarship is awarded once every school year in accordance with the principles of “open, fair, just, and merit”.
About the Scholarship and Method of Application
Clause 1: About the Project
The Tianjin Foreign Studies University Academic Merit Scholarship is aimed at encouraging and fostering outstanding academic achievement for undergraduate and graduate students. There are three categories of students eligible for this scholarship: foreign undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students.
Clause 2: Application Submission
Applicants must submit their application to Tianjin Foreign Studies University International Cooperation and Exchange Division’s study abroad student’s office.
Value of the Scholarship
1. Undergraduate Scholarship: (for those who satisfy the scholarship’s assessment criteria)
Second year undergraduate students can be awarded a sum that covers 20% of their tuition;
Third year undergraduate students can be awarded a sum that covers 30% of their tuition;
Fourth year undergraduate students can be a awarded a sum that covers 40% of their tuition;
2. Graduate Student Scholarship: (for those who satisfy the scholarship’s criteria)
Second year graduate students can be awarded a sum that covers 20% of their tuition;
Third year graduate students can be awarded a sum that covers 30% of their tuition.
3. Doctoral Student Scholarship: (for those who satisfy the scholarship’s criteria)
Second year doctoral students can be awarded a sum that covers 20% of their tuition;
Third year doctoral students can be awarded a sum that covers 30% of their tuition
Applying for the Scholarship
Clause 4: Application Timeline
Applications for the TFSU Academic Merit Scholarship are accepted during the first week of the school year in early September. Scholarship applicants can submit their applications and direct their questions about the scholarship to Tianjin Foreign Studies University’s International Cooperation and Exchange Division’s study abroad students office.
Clause 5: Eligible Applicants
Applicants must be self-supported (they may not be current recipients of any other form of scholarship) undergraduate or post graduate students who have been enrolled at Tianjin Foreign Studies University for a year or more.
Clause 6: Application Criteria
The applicant must be a student at Tianjin Foreign Studies University, may not have applied to temporarily suspend studies within the last year, and must have maintained their status as a student or have studied for an extended period of time.
The applicant must demonstrate good behavior, and may not be absent from class without leave, and excused absences from the last school year may not exceed 30 class hours. Eligible applicants have not violated either university policies and regulations or China’s laws and regulations.
Eligible applicants will have an exemplary attitude, outstanding academic achievement and actively participate in university clubs and activities.
Eligible applicants are not receiving any other form of scholarship at the time of application.
